my Story
you don't need to go to a gym to get fit and strong. all it takes is a - training that works for you.
I got into training seriously in my early 20s when I moved to London. I loved training and reading up on everything to do with weight training, but always felt uncomfortable training in gyms. I started to train more at home, buying resistance bands and the sand-filled York weights and bench from Argos that will be familiar to many in the UK and over many years, invested in some proper kit and spent less time in gyms, but still following the same scientific principles for muscle growth and strength development.
Fast forward to 2018 and having spent 15 years in the advertising and tech industry in London, I made a life-changing decision to retrain as a personal trainer, being a stay-at-home Dad during the day and going to college in the evenings. I qualified in 2018 and set out to create the kind of personal training that I would actually use – offering high quality personal training to people who like me – clients who wanted to get fit and strong, take their training seriously, but didn’t feel comfortable exercising in a gym.
I started my business training clients in their houses, driving round Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey to visit clients and using my gym equipment. Once I moved to Wokingham I created my own training studio where I now train clients, training using the principles that first got me excited about exercising. I’m fortunate to have loyal clients for whom training has made a real difference.

The thought of exercising and "getting fit" can feel like a huge mountain to climb. I set up Spark Move Grow because I think it's a personal trainer's job to find a way of exercising that gets clients excited to train and delivers real, tangible results. Whether it's incorporating boxing into programmes, teaching clients to perform gymnastic exercises or mastering old-fashioned, proper squats and deadlifts, exercise should be enjoyable, challenging and make a difference.

Everyone has different levels of experience, physical ability and motivations. Spark Move Grow personal training delivers real results because training programmes are unique to each client; the type of training and exercise selection is chosen based on each client's mobility, training experience, goals and motivations. Key metrics (repetitions, weight lifted, exercise form) are recorded for every session (in-person or "virtual") and reviewed to inform future programmes.
By following proven training techniques and constantly reviewing and optimising clients' programmes, I have been able to help my clients getter fitter, stronger, more mobile and enjoy exercise.

Exercising and training isn’t about completing a routine, seeing some initial results and then doing the same thing over and over again, or worse… stopping altogether. Whether you’re 17 or 70 years old, only by evolving what you do and learning new techniques will you be able to push and transform your body to your next goal.
I am fortunate to work with clients that have trained with me for 3+ years. These clients came to me with an initial goal and having achieved it, we worked together to create training programmes that enabled them to achieve new goals - goals that they may not have thought possible at first.
